Corporate Manslaughter Update
The groundbreaking first Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide case has been adjourned due to the defendant''s ill health.
The charges were laid by the Crown Prosecution Service in April of last year after the death of an employee in September 2008 and is the first to be heard under the new Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007.
Whilst this case was construction related, it is suggested that there are a number of driving related prosecutions in the system, which take at least 2 years to get to court.
Businesses and directors can support protection against cases like these by implementing Business Driver Fleet Risk Management programmes.
